IZone Hybrid Course Instructor

GENERAL PURPOSE:The Hybrid Course Instructor serves a critical role for the Barbara J. Burger iZone, a programming and services hub that helps students become creative problem solvers, innovators, and changemakers who can accelerate their positive impact in the world, often starting within the Greater Rochester community. At iZone, students are able to explore their ideas for social, cultural, community and economic impact.The Hybrid Course Instructor is a member of iZone’s leadership team, responsible for the successful delivery of iZone’s credit-bearing courses through in person and web-based delivery models. The Hybrid Course Instructor is responsible for expanding the impact of iZone’s credit-bearing courses by scaling delivery through the development of e-learning course modules. The Hybrid Course Instructor also cultivates and develops course partnerships with e-learning platforms for opportunities to collaborate and increase iZone’s credit-bearing course userbase.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:In Person and E-Learning Course Architecture and Development

In partnership with the Curriculum Design Specialist, design and develop plans for delivering iZone courses

In partnership with the Curriculum Design Specialist, identify course objectives, desired activities, and class interactions, create course storyboards to create course content

Utilize eLearning authoring tools to create user-friendly, interactive asynchronous eLearning courses

In partnership with the Curriculum Design Specialist, engage in course prototype reviews with course delivery partners, including the Office of Disability Resources (for in person courses)

Course Delivery

Collaborate with Liaison Librarians to discover opportunities to include Open Educational Resources and Open Pedagogical practices

Proactively collaborate with the Office of Disability Resources to understand and anticipate student needs related to in-person and online course delivery

Provide instruction for in person iZone courses

Deploy iZone eLearning courses

Assessment & Continuous Improvement

With the Director and Curriculum Design Specialist, design pre and post assessment instruments to capture the impact of iZone courses students’ learning outcomes and engage in continuous improvement processes

With the Director, design pre and post assessment instruments to capture the impact of iZone collaborations with course delivery partners and engage in continuous improvement processes

Communicate students’ learning outcomes to the Brand Manager to be conveyed in departmental marketing materials

Communicate course delivery partner feedback to the Brand Manager to be conveyed in departmental marketing materials

Course Delivery Partnerships

Collaborate with instructional faculty to integrate problem solving approaches, e.g., design thinking, systems thinking and community-engaged practices, into courses

With the Director, develop outreach strategy to future course delivery partners for eLearning courses from which to:

Cultivate new course delivery partnerships for eLearning courses

Increase iZone curricular visibility within and outside of the university system

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related area required.

2 years curriculum and instructional design required.

eLearning specific course development, deployment, and continuous improvement preferred.

1+ years of experience working with minimal supervision preferred.
