They will be expected to be the back up of Safety Tech job duties such as: back up of decontamination of Radioactive Material and shipping processes to name a few. The position will work closely with Health Physicist II in understanding regulatory requirements. The person will need to be able to work in a Enterprise matrix to bring up issues and work with stakeholders and enterprise peers to come up with a solution. We would like to see someone experienced in developing and presenting training material and policy/procedure writing. Looking for someone able to identify opportunities and recommend solutions after research and stakeholder interviews.Under the general supervision of the Manager, Radiation Safety, the Health Physicist I is responsible for the administration of campus specific subprograms within the Mayo Radiation Safety program. Majority of time is spent in program development and working within established goals of the Radiation Safety program. Develops and implements new procedures or educational programs. Evaluates established procedures and programs for effectiveness. Conducts educational and training activities in specified subprogram areas. Maintains technical knowledge in the field of radiation safety, especially as applied in a medical environment. Contributes to scientific discussions at section and institution levels representing the work unit's position on radiation safety issues. Serves as expert resource on radiation safety for Mayo Clinic in collaboration with other site ambassadors, site HP, team leads and Director. We value your interest in the role and look forward to hearing back from you.QualificationsBachelor of Science in Science/Engineering or related health field with 2 years of experience; or Bachelor of Science in Health Physics/Radiation Safety with 1-year experience; or Master's of Science in Health Physics/Radiation Safety with no experience is required. Must have ability to organize and implement procedures/techniques independently. Must have significant technical knowledge, understanding of radiation safety regulations, ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written materials, and ability to work both independently and in a team. Ability to be flexible and adaptable to a changing work environment that requires upgrading of skills on a regular basis is required. Must have established presentation, teaching, and customer service skills. Must have working knowledge of PC and ability to use routine computer software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, and databases). Healthcare radiation safety experience preferred. National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) certification, pass Certified Health Physicist (CHP) Part 1, or pass Certified Medical Health Physicist (CMHP) Part 1 required within two years of hire.Preferred Qualifications:Education and Workforce experience in Radiation Safety or similar role (working with or around Radioactive Material)Ability to work with stakeholders to develop and implement education and policy and proceduresFamiliarity with Safety practices around radioactive material whether it is education or work experience.Experience in Quality initiatives in healthcare is a plusExemption StatusExemptCompensation Detail$81,744- $122,678.40 / year; Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.Benefits EligibleYesScheduleFull TimeHours/Pay Period80Schedule DetailsTypical Monday- Friday 8-430pm cst.
