Participates in a school climate that recognizes a normative culture that values five norms of safety, respect, responsibility, goal-directed, and the classroom is sacred.

Utilizes collegial feedback aligned with normative culture expectations.

Participates in a restorative approach to restoring harm when conflict arises.

Counsels students and their parents as indicated by the student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP);

Provides daily crisis counseling for students as needed;

Provides hours for counseling the working parent;

Advises classroom teachers on therapeutic management techniques and strategies;

Serves as a resource to the Principal, Behavior Management Team in matters regarding students;

Participates in Committee on Special Education meetings;

Prepares counseling goals and objectives for students' IEPs within 30 days of students' placement within program; regularly meets with parents to discuss students' goals and objectives;

Develops "Individual Safety Support Plans" and other positive behavior interventions, in collaboration with staff for students with intense management needs;

Tracks daily behavior charts and refers the patterns of behavior to the Behavior Management Team and other designated staff;

Submits monthly records of counseling;

Prepares social summary for students' files on an annual basis;

Provides CSE with updated social histories annually, on the students assigned to caseload;

Submits annual summary reports to the Home School CSE, with copies provided to the Building Principal for the students' files.

Attends agency meetings in order to provide a link between student, school, home, and community;

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, & PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: `

Knowledge of current methods and educational pedagogy.

Knowledge of curricula and concepts in area of certification.

Knowledge and understanding of normative culture and restorative practices.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, parents, community and others contacted in the course of work.

Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.

Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.

Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.

Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
