The ideal candidate for this position can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Assess deliverables of self and team to verify they meet client expectations
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection
Capable of handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Requirements
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment
CPA with a BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business-related field
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required
Candidate must possess first-rate analytical, quantitative and social skills
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Foundational knowledge in financial reporting
Expertise in forecasting
Internal Control experience
Solid understanding of budgeting
Proficiency in month end closing
