Summary LOCATION: This position is located in the Social Security Administration, Office of the Regional Commissioner, Office of the Area Director, Area II, Patchogue Field Office, 75 Oak Street, Patchogue, New York 11772. TOUR OF DUTY: Flextime | Full-time | Alternate work schedules may be available. TYPE OF POSITION: One Temporary Position, May be Extended, May become Permanent. You may also view the full position description on the Agency intranet at the following link: PD Search The Assistant District Manager serves as full deputy and "alter ego" to the Field Office Manager. Shares responsibility with the manager in all administrative and operational functions. In the absence of the manager, assumes responsibilities for the field office operations and acts on any and all matters with full authority for commitment on matters within the jurisdiction of the manager. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-12 level, or equivalent, which is in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience must have involved the development, examination, investigation, adjudication, or authorization of claims for retirement, survivors insurance, disability insurance, pension programs, health insurance, income maintenance, or related programs; or administration or other experience in the analysis, development, or review of a retirement or survivors insurance, disability insurance, health insurance, income maintenance and pension, or related programs; or experience that provided a broad knowledge of the function or subject area of the position to be filled. This experience must demonstrate ability to deal courteously and effectively with the public, to exercise tact, ingenuity and resourcefulness in the development of facts and information, and to work well with others. Qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Applicants for promotion must have 52 weeks at GS-12. Additional selections may be made within 6 months of the date the best qualified list is issued. Applications for noncompetitive consideration will be accepted from SSA employees in the area of consideration who are currently serving under the following types of appointments: Schedule A, Reg. 213.3102 (U) appointments for individuals with disabilities and time limited appointments for veterans with a compensable service-connected disability of 30% or more. However, you must submit a current SF-50 that provides information on the appointment authority under which you were hired. Otherwise, you will not receive non-competitive consideration. LOCALITY PAY: Salary will be set in accordance with locality pay provisions. Candidates currently receiving a higher locality pay than the office applied for are advised that should they be selected, they will lose entitlement to the higher locality pay. OTHER NOTES: This position is temporary, not-to-exceed one year. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended or may become permanent. This position is eligible for telework. Relocation expenses will not be paid. This is a non-bargaining unit position. Travel expenses for temporary assignments will be paid as appropriate according to applicable travel rules and /or regulations. TEMPORARY SUPERVISORY PROBATION: First time supervisors/managers are required to serve a one-year supervisory/managerial probationary period. Time served in this temporary position may be credited toward meeting the supervisory/managerial probationary period. Selected employee is subject to the completion of a 1-year probationary period for a supervisory position unless the employee served in such a position before August 11, 1979, or has completed one.
