Description: This is an entry level position for a materials and process engineer. This position will involve the development, implementation and support of processes used to manufacture advanced high reliability electronic assemblies. This position requires a strong working knowledge of polymers including adhesive systems, ceramics and metallurgy that can be utilized for the construction of electronics. Subject matter also routinely used to perform the position’s responsibilities includes mechanics of materials, basic electronic theory, statistical analysis, electronic device theory, fracture mechanics and thermodynamics. Familiarization with subjects such as variation control and reduction, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques are also helpful in establishing a firm base. This position requires effective written and communication skills. A process engineering position requires the ability to work with multiple functions which typically range from design engineering to manufacturing teams.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor or Masters from an accredited program in one of the following: metallurgy or metallurgical engineering, ceramics or ceramics engineering, chemical engineering, materials engineering or materials science, mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technology, manufacturing engineering. A working knowledge of mechanics of materials, basic electronic theory, statistical analysis, electronic device theory, fracture mechanics and thermodynamics would be extremely helpful. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively. They must have good problem-solving skills and must be able to work alone or as a team.Desired Skills:A firm academic base in the understanding of uses and properties of materials is key. The ability to apply that knowledge to the manufacture of electronic assemblies will be a measure of effectiveness. The ability to analyze and act on data is important. This position involves working in a team environment so the ability to interact with others will help the candidate find success.
