45R is a Japanese luxury clothing brand that specializes in indigo dye, fabric making, and traditional Japanese textile techniques. Our flagship store in SoHo has been open since the year 2000. We have another location in Upper East Side.
We have built a large client base over years that appreciates the brand's dedication to quality, craftsmanship, and unique design. We are looking for a skilled Tailor/Seamstress to join our New York location. The candidate must have a love for our 45R clothing.
Tailor/Seamstress responsibilities :
Accurately measuring customers using tape measures to ensure proper fit of garments : Shortening of sleeves for shirting, jackets as well as hemming for the trousers
Patchworking and repairing for customer owned items
Pattern making and production for US original dresses, shirts and trousers
Altering, mending, constructing garments to the customer’s specifications and needs
Ensuring that sewing machines and other equipment are in good working order.
Washing and hanging of new merchandise that are delivered from Japan in a weekly basis
Offering personalized embroidery and other services based on clients need and want
Minimum qualifications but not limited to:
Proven sewing experience
Pattern making experience is a plus
Some work experience in production, design, pattern making but not required
Degree from fashion/art school
In-depth knowledge of garments and fabrics
Creativity and be able to visualize and advise clients how a garment will look before its finished
Interpersonal Skill : Be able to interact with clients effectively
Ability to work under time constraints.
Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Be able to incorporate a hand-work (hand-stitches, and hand-crochetwork)
