A custom archival fine art framing business based in Long Island City, seeks a candidate for an open position of Senior Woodworker.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate is precise, detail oriented, has advanced knowledge and experience with woodworking and using specialty tools and wood shop machinery, and has at least 5 years of professional experience, with at least some experience making picture frames preferred. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and unsupervised on large and complex projects, and is willing to learn and adapt to our preferred processes and techniques.
The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will be leading the production of handmade custom picture frames in our wood shop and supervising and working alongside our Assistant Woodworker. The Senior Woodworker will work under the supervision of our Manager and must be capable of lifting 50 lbs and comfortable working on their feet.
A fine art education background, experience working in a fine art field, experience in art handling and framing, fundamental knowledge of art handling best practices, and/or fundamental knowledge of archival conservation and framing best practices are all preferred but not required.
The ideal candidate is seeking long term employment and is available approximately 40 hours per week (5 days per week, Monday-Friday).
Compensation:
Pay will be commensurate with experience, $22-$28 per hour.
