Happy Medium exists to create and curate the best supplies, content and events for casual artists. There’s a lot of stuff there for kids and capital “A” Artists, but there isn’t much for those that fall somewhere in between. We are on a mission to fill the gap. We aim to be part of a world where more people feel emboldened to create things with their hands, just for the hell of it– because the real thrill simply lies in the making.
The Teaching Assistant is responsible for assisting both Pottery and Handbuilding Guides with classes, helping to ensure that the Pottery functions seamlessly, efficiently, and to guests’ satisfaction. The ideal Teaching Assistant is a team player who excels at anticipating the needs of staff and guests in a fast paced environment.
Sample Responsibilities
Become familiar with both Handbuilding and Wheel instruction techniques to be able to assist students as needed the
Happy Medium way
Occasionally teach Handbuilding classes under supervision of Handbuilding or Pottery Guide
Efficiently wedge and pass clay before and throughout classes, ensuring that guests always have more than enough and
never have to ask or get up from their seats, and that there is extra for the next shift
Restock and refresh restroom throughout shift
Prepare and pass out moist towels for handbuilding guests
When assigned, explain check out process to handbuilding and/or wheel guests with 20 minutes left in class (no less),
Assist with all turn tasks as assigned by Handbuilding Guide
Pre-roll handbuilding tools during downtime
Additional tasks needed to ensure smooth pottery operations

Requirements
Ability to lift 50 pounds
Ability to work well on a team
Full weekend availability
Exceptional hospitality skills
No prior pottery experience needed
Able to stand for long periods of time
Legally authorized to work in the US
