We seek a motivated and detail-oriented Gallery Assistant / Sales Associate to join our team. This role combines operational support with a focus on sales to ensure the smooth operation of daily gallery activities while driving revenue and building strong client relationships. A passion and curiosity for art is a must.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and engage with gallery visitors, providing information about current exhibitions and artists.
Assist in setting up and dismantling exhibitions, ensuring artwork is handled with care.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gallery space.
Manage front desk operations, including answering calls, responding to inquiries, and scheduling appointments.
Actively engage in sales efforts, including promoting and selling artwork to clients.
Build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients to foster loyalty and repeat business.
Process sales transactions and maintain accurate records of inventory and sales.
Assist with marketing efforts, including social media updates, email campaigns, and event promotion.
Support gallery events such as openings, artist talks, and workshops.
Monitor and ensure the safety and security of artwork and the gallery space.
Qualifications:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-focused attitude.
Sales experience, preferably in a gallery, retail, or similar environment.
Interest in or knowledge of contemporary art and gallery operations.
Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and social media platforms.
Previous experience in a gallery, museum, or customer-facing role is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
