We are looking for someone who has Spanish Wine knowledge and experience in a wine shop, restaurant or catering selling wine.
We are a boutique shop specializing in wines & spirits from Spain looking for a dynamic person to join our team in downtown Manhattan (Soho). We are seeking wine professionals with a passion for wines from Spain including sherry, vermouth and spirits who have a strong background and knowledge and are eager to learn more. You must have prior wine sales experience to work here.
Despaña Vinos y Más, part of the Despaña Brand family, is dedicated to representing the best of Spanish culture through food, beverage, and special events. DVYM is our wine and spirits shop in operation since 2011.
This is a part time, weekend sales position for Fridays and Saturdays from 2pm - 6pm and Sundays from 12pm - 6pm, a total of 18 hours per week.
Skills and Qualifications:
1 - 3 years experience in Wine Retail Sales, Restaurant or Catering (preferably in NYC)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Must be an excellent organizer and problem solver
Possess strong interpersonal skills to communicate with confidence to both internal and external customers
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus
Spanish food knowledge is a plus
Proficient in Posim or similar POS, Shopify, Microsoft Excel, Word
Comfortable working independently
Must be able to climb a ladder and lift up to 50 pounds
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists Store Manager in store related responsibilities including opening and closing procedures
Skilled at hand-selling very special bottles of Fine & Rare wines from Spain
Interacting with clients, winemakers, & wine distributors and participating in tasting wines
Consistently creates a welcoming environment for the customer by greeting; as well as quickly responding to customer inquiries and needs via phone/email
Ensures all pricing, signage, and displays are correct and impeccable at all times
Polished demeanor with both neighborhood regulars and luxury clientele
Maintain cleanliness of the shop
