We have remained steadfast in our efforts to move our clients into permanent housing. It is essential during these times that we help New Yorkers in need to achieve the health benefits and stability that come from housing permanency. As you know, DHS have many rental assistance and rehousing programs that have enabled us to secure permanent housing for more than 145,000 New Yorkers who were living in The shelters or at imminent risk of homelessness. At this time, however, I need your help with securing housing for clients. Apartment-hunting in this climate is challenging, and I am reaching out for your help in identifying as many apartments for clients to rent as you can.
As you probably know, many clients moving out of DHS programs have rental subsidies that provide a steady stream of rental revenue for landlords and Brokers. DHS is paying brokers fees on behalf of eligible clients and, in some instances, a bonus to landlords for identifying units.
