We are a new small company based in New York City, focused on the installation of commercial kitchen exhaust systems—from hood to rooftop. We're seeking a licensed professional to be our qualifying individual and oversee permitted installations in full compliance with NYC codes.
Job Description:
We are looking for a licensed HVAC or mechanical contractor (or equivalent) to join our team and serve as the responsible licensed party for our business. You will play a key role in:
Overseeing and performing installation of commercial kitchen hoods, ductwork, and rooftop exhaust fans.
Ensuring all installations meet NYC Mechanical, Building, and Fire Codes.
Working with project managers and inspectors to obtain permits, coordinate inspections, and ensure code compliance.
Optionally installing or coordinating the installation of fire suppression systems (if certified).
You will be listed as the qualifying licensee for our company for permit and filing purposes with the NYC Department of Buildings.
Requirements:
Licensed in NYC as one of the following:
Master HVAC Contractor, or
Licensed Fire Suppression Contractor, or
Other relevant DOB-recognized mechanical license
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with:
Commercial kitchen hood systems
Vertical ducting through multi-story buildings
Rooftop exhaust fans
Familiarity with DOB/FDNY permitting and inspection processes
Willingness to be the license-holder of record for our company
Must be reliable, communicative, and able to supervise or lead installations
Ability to work across all five boroughs
Preferred (Not Mandatory):
FDNY Certificate of Fitness for kitchen hood fire suppression
Experience with grease duct systems and UL-compliant installations
Experience filing with DOB NOW or working with expediters
