Manhattan design school seeks New York tri-state area jewelry design instructor to evaluate student work from home. This is an ongoing contract position. Evaluations are made as digital audio recordings so a clear speaking voice and the ability to express your thoughts clearly are very important. Access to a computer and the internet is also needed.
Our students are beginners and advanced amateurs, so it is necessary to mentor these students and help them master the principles of jewelry design following our course curriculum. You’ll use our recommended software on your computer to make an audio recording and upload it to our site. You choose how many projects you would like to grade per week. This is a part time position for jewelry makers to grade student work in their spare time, not a full time position.
We are looking for jewelry designers who have about 8 hours per week available to evaluate student work, and a minimum of five years working as a professional jewelry maker selling your own work. The techniques taught are cold connection handcrafting skills, not metalsmithing, but an understanding of both is a plus. This course teaches the foundations for wire wrapping, forging, knotting, bead weaving and other techniques, and students take 1-2 years to complete the course. Knowledge from making jewelry, photographing, and selling your work is required to mentor students on these subjects.
