A leading contemporary art gallery is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to provide full-cycle support to our growing staff with a focus on health and 401k benefits administration, billing and employee advancement.
If you possess experience in these four key skills and have worked in a creative field we would love to hear from you! Working alongside our Human Resources Director, our of our offices in Chelsea, NY, you will have a key role in all related HR functions as well as our developing company culture.

Benefits Management
Track newly eligible employees and qualifying events, prepare benefit packets and provide guidance on benefit options
Process and track employee enrollment in health insurance, 401(k), and Commuter Benefit programs
Review monthly benefit and administrative invoices and cross reference employee deductions to ensure accuracy, collaborate with Payroll to ensure accurate employee deductions
Work closely with benefits vendors to ensure enrollment and billing accuracy
Notify COBRA administrator of newly enrolled employees and qualifying events
Maintain files for FMLA, PFL, Worker's Compensation, Short Term & Long Term Disability
Generate monthly & quarterly benefit reports
Assist with annual Health & Welfare and 401(k) audits, and Open enrollment workshops
General Administration
Assist in full-cycle recruiting including tracking resume submissions and candidate interviews
Process background checks, employment verification and follow up with references
Prepare and send offer letters to newly hired candidates
Prepare new hire welcome packs, and assist new employees in completing paperwork
Organize new hire orientation and training
Create and maintain employee files in accordance with state and federal requirements for New York and California
Maintain information in HRIS system and review payroll to ensure accuracy
Maintain HR reporting metrics and annual filings, including EEO and DOL reports
Process address changes, track vacation/sick/personal time for all employees
Assist with special projects and research as needed
Qualifications
BA Degree preferred in Psychology, Human Resources or other related fields
2 years' minimum relevant HR experience, excluding internships, in a creative field (film, the arts, or theater)
Experience working with benefits, including enrollments and billing review, and knowledge of 401(k) tracking and administration is a must
Strong interpersonal and organization skills; must be able to interface with all levels of employees in a professional and poised manner
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
Familiarity with ADP WorkForce Now, WageWorks or similar programs and vendors preferred
Familiarity with New York and California federal and state labor laws is required
