Job Description:

We seek highly motivated and passionate entry to mid-level lawyers to join our special education law practice. In this remote role, you will have the opportunity to gain immediate exposure to litigation in administrative court, working closely with our experienced attorneys and paralegals. This position is an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate eager to build a career in special education law or those looking to obtain immediate litigation experience in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

1. Case Management: Assist in managing a caseload of special education cases, primarily involving administrative hearings. Communicate with all relevant parties, including administrative judges and NYC DOE staff.

2. Legal Research: Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategies and arguments.

3. Document Preparation: Draft legal documents, including due process complaints, motions, and briefs, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

4. Client Interaction: Communicate with parents, educational agencies, and providers to gather information, provide updates, and address their concerns throughout the legal process. You will need to be comfortable preparing witnesses for hearings.

5. Court Appearances: You must be comfortable attending administrative hearings and court proceedings to represent clients and present legal arguments effectively.

6. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with senior attorneys, paralegals, and other team members to achieve positive outcomes for clients.

7. Continuous Learning: Stay informed about developments in special education law, attend training sessions, and engage in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

2. Admission to the NYS Bar.

3. Strong interest in special education law and advocacy.

4. Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills.

5. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for managing and maintaining your schedule and finding coverage if you can not attend a hearing.

· A base salary of $75,000, with the ability to earn overtime. We also issue bonuses based on performance on an ad hoc basis.
