Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Brass / Stone Cleaning Specialist to join our team as a subcontractor for a variety of projects. This union position requires proficiency in cleaning and restoring brass/ stone components, ensuring they meet high standards of quality and aesthetic appeal. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of the techniques and safety protocols necessary for the proper handling and cleaning of brass/stone materials in a professional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Brass Cleaning & Polishing: Clean, polish, and restore brass components to their original condition, including pipes, fixtures, hardware, and other related items, utilizing specialized tools, techniques, and materials.
Preparation: Safely prepare brass items for cleaning, ensuring proper identification and separation of items to avoid damage or contamination.
Inspection & Assessment: Evaluate brass components to determine the best cleaning method and assess for any defects, corrosion, or damage.
Safety Compliance: Follow all union safety standards and OSHA guidelines related to handling hazardous materials, working with cleaning chemicals, and operating cleaning equipment.
Quality Control: Ensure all brass pieces meet or exceed client specifications and quality standards before delivery or installation.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of cleaning activities, including materials used, time spent, and any observations regarding the condition of the brass.
Collaborate with Team: Work closely with the project manager, supervisors, and other subcontractors to meet project deadlines and maintain a smooth workflow.
Maintenance of Equipment: Ensure that cleaning equipment and tools are properly maintained, cleaned, and stored.
Adherence to Union Standards: Comply with all union work rules, policies, and labor agreements as outlined by the specific union.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in brass cleaning or related work, including expertise in polishing, buffing, and restoring brass items.
Technical Skills: Proficient in the use of brass cleaning tools and equipment, including manual and powered tools. Familiarity with various cleaning agents, polishes, and protective coatings used on brass surfaces.
Knowledge of Materials: Strong understanding of brass and its properties, including potential risks of corrosion, tarnish, and discoloration.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and commitment to safety standards in both a unionized environment and when working with potentially hazardous chemicals and equipment.
Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy objects, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods as required.
Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of quality.
Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, project managers, and other team members.
Working Conditions:
Hours: Full-time or overnight hours, with occasional overtime as necessary to meet project deadlines.
Environment: Work may be performed in indoor or outdoor environments, subject to varying weather conditions and temperatures.
Tools & Equipment: The company will provide necessary cleaning tools and equipment, although the specialist may be responsible for personal hand tools as per union regulations.
