Job Description and Responsibilities

The part-time Housekeeper is responsible for cleaning the two office sites that HCC maintains as follows:

Clean office premises, common areas, kitchen and restrooms.

Maintain restroom cabinets stocked with necessary items (tissue, towels, hand washing soap, air fresheners, etc.).

Clean floors with broom and mop 3 times per week including offices, entrance vestibule, reception area, kitchen, conference room, bathrooms and hallways.

Clean office entrance door glass and surrounding frame once a week.

Empty all garbage cans and replace garbage can liners.

Ensure compliance with NYC regulations for recycling & garbage pick-up. Put out

garbage and recycling in appropriate bags/cans for pick-up on days designated by the NYC Department of Sanitation.

Clean office furniture and surfaces as needed or upon request.

Sweep carpets when they are out. Once per month clean area rugs with broom.

Maintain inventory cleaning supplies; let office manager know what supplies need to be ordered.

Ensure floors, corners and surfaces are clear of food particles, dust and debris.

Management may direct reasonable specific cleaning duties, including, but not limited to cleaning windows, and/or air vents, to be performed during the time set aside for thorough cleaning.

Report any sightings of pests or droppings to the Office Manager.

Work Hours

The standard hours for the cleaning person are 15 hours per week to be split evenly on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and completed after 6pm and completed by 10 pm. Work hours are subject to change to coordinate with Department of Sanitation trash/recycling collection days.

On occasion an intensive cleaning may be required and would be completed on a Saturday with advanced scheduling.

Salary and Benefits

The Housekeeper will earn a minimum of $27.00/hour (entry level with no experience) and a maximum of $41.40/hour, depending on relevant experience. The HCC Housekeeper is a member of National Organization of Legal Services Workers (NOLSW), UAW Local 2320; salary and benefits are pursuant to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a cleaner or housekeeper.

Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.

Knowledge of or experience with Covid-19 cleaning /reduction of communicable diseases protocols highly preferred.

Prioritization and time management skills.
