Full Time Medical Assistant needed.
Must have two years experience.
Must have knowledge and skill in verifying insurance and obtaining prior authorizations for medications and radiology studies.
Looking for an efficient and skilled individual who can handle prior authorizations.
Must have command of the English language - both written and verbal.
Must be Bilingual - Spanish
Must already know how to use EClinicalworks (ECW) at an advanced level
Must be comfortable with all ages - infants, children, adults - we are a family practice.
Must be able to work evening (close at 7 pm - Monday-Thursday) and weekends (Friday and Saturday open until 3 pm). More details at time of interview.
Answers telephone calls and/or telephone messages (during and after office hours), assesses level of priority/urgency, and reroutes or addresses the messages accordingly
Organizes patient flow and assist in the clinical back-end when needed. Duties:including phlebotomy, ear irrigation procedures, and Standing Orders.
Performs and verifies pre-certification for procedures and outgoing referrals as necessary.
Performs appointment scheduling and registration for patients as well as updating patient demographic, patient documents/photos, and insurance information.
Maintains, adjusts and confirms patient office schedule.
Checks, verifies, and updates insurance information utilizing internal or web sources.
Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include: sending and receiving patient medical records, obtaining lab/x-ray reports/hospital notes, referral information, completing forms and requisitions as needed, and drafting work/school letters for patients
Scans and attaches patient documents to the medical record while assessing level of priority/urgency
Cash collection and reconciling patient accounts
Enforces and upholds compliance with HIPAA and infection control standards set forward by OSHA
Enforces and upholds compliance with PCMH as set forward by NCQA.
Performs unhealthy behavioral health assessments including: AUDIT-C, PHQ2, PHQ9 and Tobacco screening.
Provides patient education for smoking-cessation, diabetes, cholesterol, mammograms, etc.
Ensure immunizations are being electronically transmitted to the citywide immunization registry.
Assist in recalling patients who may have missed an appointment, abnormal lab results, and/or are missing chronic/preventive care services
Provides patient education for smoking-cessation, diabetes, cholesterol, mammograms, etc.
Participates in daily team huddles to discuss patients scheduled
Update community resource list on a regular basis to ensure info is up-to-date for distribution to self-pay/under-insured patients (otherwise known as our vulnerable population)
Maintain hospitalization/ER logs
Performs unhealthy behavioral health assessments including: AUDIT-C, PHQ2, PHQ9 and Tobacco screening.
Assists in creating and scheduling outgoing referrals to specialists for patients.
Requests prior authorizations for medications and outgoing referrals
Addresses incoming faxes, and attaches documents to the patient medical record for review by the physician
Vaccine Management:
Oversees the maintenance of the vaccine inventory, duties include: generating reports on vaccine inventory, ordering vaccines, and entering new vaccine shipments into eClinicalWorks
Temperature log for vaccine refrigerator(s)
Recalls children and adolescents who are missing vaccinations
Creates and updates patient forms and templates for clinic use
Light cleaning duties, and maintains office supplies, stationary, and medical forms
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Other duties as assigned by the physician
