We are a busy small animal hospital located in Brooklyn Heights that is looking to add an experienced individual to our reception team. The ideal candidate is comfortable working long hours (10 - 11 hour days) and enjoys working with people as much as animals.
Applicants MUST possess:

- The willingness to learn new things and adjust to situations as needed
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including holidays and weekends
- Strong knowledge of basic animal care practices and veterinary procedures
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and medical records management
- The principles of basic care and nutrition for small animals
- Knowledge of veterinary critical care procedures and emergency protocols
- Experience in laboratory procedures, such as sample collection
The ideal applicant's primary duties include:
- Greeting and welcoming clients and their pets with a friendly and professional demeanor
- Accurately scheduling appointments and managing the veterinary clinic's calendar
- Answering phone calls, emails, and other inquiries from clients
- Collecting and updating patient information, medical history, and insurance details
- Assisting veterinarians and veterinary technicians with various tasks (making medications, etc.) as needed
- Handling financial transactions, including processing payments and managing invoices
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room
- Providing general administrative support to the veterinary hospital
- Refilling prescriptions via online portals and hospital software
Please note that this position does not require any specific educational background or certification; however, prior experience in a similar role or in the veterinary field is highly preferred.
