Full-Time Certified Medical Assistant/Secretary
Our adolescent-young adult medical practice is seeking a full-time certified medical assistant/secretary. Prior experience is necessary. Ideal candidates must have a positive work ethic, attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. As medical assistant/secretary, your primary responsibility is to ensure that our patients have a positive experience and to continue to promote the pre-eminent nature of our practice. Other responsibilities include managing order in the office to help facilitate efficiency for the physician by creating and maintaining systems for medical records, appointment scheduling, confirming appointments, and patient flow. A desire to learn and an ability to have compassion for all patients is a must.
Duties include:
Interacting with patients who have complex medical conditions on a daily basis, in person, over the phone and through email communication
Meeting and greeting visitors and patients
Managing appointments for new patients, follow-up, sick visits and ensuring that the physician has ample time for each patient. Confirming all appointments in advance and rescheduling if needed
Helping patients fill out forms to record their personal information, medical histories and insurance details
Assisting in triaging patients and documenting clinical history
Measuring patients' vital signs, such as their blood pressure, pulse and temperature
Helping physician with patient examinations and blood draws when appropriate
Giving patients injections or medications as directed by physician and as permitted by state law.
Process laboratory specimens and complete proper laboratory order forms
Assist physician in procedures, phone calls, referrals, and problem solving
Handling sensitive medical information with care while respecting all state and federal laws and regulations regarding patient privacy
Maintaining exam rooms, including stocking and preparation
Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD10 coding
Prior authorization for diagnostic testing and prescriptions
Preparation of school/work forms, medical necessity letters, absent/late notes
Preparation of charts and encounter forms
Work directly with the physician to triage and facilitate patient care
