We are currently looking for Porters, Dishwashers & Food Service Workers to add to our team. Experience in catering/private events is a plus, but not necessary.
Porters are responsible for the overall cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, restaurant, and event space. Porters are required to handle multiple daily responsibilities, display an ability and willingness to learn and take direction, and work in a team environment.
Food Service Workers will assist in the daily operations of the fast casual grab & go concept of the Yellow Magnolia Canteen and work closely with the kitchen and porter team to ensure that the retail space is fully stocked and supported.
Located in Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Yellow Magnolia and Union Square Events celebrate the beauty of the garden and its rich ties to the Brooklyn community. We aim to create experiences for guests that they won’t soon forget.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of one year working in any restaurant or event space
Experience with large catering or banquet functions
Strong teamwork qualities
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain organization of restaurant and event supplies, furniture, glassware and china
Assist catering and restaurant team in set-up and organization of events and special activations
Clean and sanitize all glassware and china
Comply with Department of Health established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards; observe proper food preparation and handling techniques and safety protocols
Dispose of all trash, cardboard, etc. from kitchen and service areas as required
Exercise sound judgement taking into account safety, customer needs, and environmental factors
Maintain cleanliness of all storage areas and back of house areas by emptying trash, sweeping and mopping floors, etc.
Perform daily cleaning and sanitation tasks as directed
Set up and breakdown station to specification; perform cleaning tasks after each service and prepare for the following service
Clean and stock bathrooms
Washes pots, pans and trays based on assigned procedures. Ensure complete cleanliness and sanitation
Keeps dish area orderly and in compliance with safety standards.
Helps receive heavy deliveries from dock and transports them to assigned storage areas while observing all safe lifting standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
