Baking/Pastry Class Instructor (Part-Time) – Kitsby

Location: NYC (on-site)

Compensation: Hourly (based on experience)

Position Overview

We’re looking for a passionate and skilled Pastry Class Instructor to lead engaging, hands-on pastry and baking workshops at Kitsby Studio. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a warm teaching presence, and the ability to make participants of all skill levels feel comfortable, inspired, and confident. We are looking for a pastry chef or cook to fill this role.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, prepare, and teach pastry and baking classes, including but not limited to cakes, tarts, breads, and seasonal specialties.

Deliver clear, engaging instruction to participants in group and private classes.

Prepare ingredients, tools, and equipment for each class.

Ensure the classroom environment is welcoming, inclusive, and safe.

Adapt teaching style and pace to suit beginner through advanced participants.

Maintain cleanliness and organization during and after classes.

Provide excellent customer service and represent Kitsby’s brand values.

Assist with recipe development and seasonal class menu planning as needed.

Must be well versed in asian ingredients, flavors, and techniques.

Qualifications

2+ years of professional pastry/baking experience, preferably in a teaching, culinary school, or workshop setting.

Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, baking science, and ingredient handling.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patient, approachable, and able to adapt to various learning styles.

Highly organized with attention to detail.

Food Protection Certification (NYC) is a plus.

Schedule & Compensation

Classes are typically evenings and weekends, with occasional weekday corporate events.

Compensation is competitive and based on experience, plus potential bonuses for private events.
