Archaeological Excavation in Tuscany (www.poggiocivitate.com) is searching for an experienced chef to prepare meals for the 50+ member excavation (mostly Americans), from June 23 - August 4th 2025.
Based in a small town in rural Tuscany, you would be responsible for the grocery shopping and preparation of three meals a day (Monday through Friday) for the excavation team. Typical Breakfast/Lunch menu, with flexibility in terms of what is cooked for dinner. Must be able to deal with some health restrictions and create vegetarian/vegan/gluten free options. Students and staff of the excavation will also help out with preparation and cleanup.
You have weekends free to explore local spots including Siena, Montalcino, and Chianti and can learn recipes and tricks from friends of the excavation, and some of the the Nonnas and locals in town.
Ability to think creatively, work on a budget, and drive stick a plus. Some experience working with college students and recent graduates helpful.
Please send an email with a little bit about yourself and how you would be a good fit for the program, with a brief resume, all in the body of the email.
This position is paid a small stipend plus room/board, and airfare. This is for someone looking for an amazing experience to live and work in Italy while having their expenses covered (this is the only position on the excavation that is paid anything).
Interviews will take place in NYC or over Skype in the next two weeks.
