We also provide on demand lunches, espresso & tea and maintain a growing artisanal retail marketplace. Job description
Located just steps away from breathtaking views of the Statue of Liberty and other incredible sights in a super artistic community! We are seeking a part time barista/retail lead to manage FOH operations. This role requires a very detail oriented, high energy individual who is super friendly with guests, has a love of fine foods & beverages and can handle periods of high volume as well as manage their time appropriately during slower moments. The best candidates will have experience as a LEAD or other type of manager and be able to manage their time appropriately, work independently, be a solid multi-tasker as well as resourceful and efficient! This is NOT an entry level position.
Daily tasks include:
- making espresso and coffee & tea drinks as well as syrups and batches as needed
- taking customer orders and other associated tasks like maintaining detailed menu knowledge, handling cash and cc transactions & using a POS
- bagging up/delivering food & beverages when ready
- appropriate opening and closing procedures commensurate with your role
- pricing and stocking of retail products
- learning about and selling artisanal retail products, gift baskets and other fine foods and wares
This is a very service oriented position so you must already have experience in this world and be able to demonstrate warmth, knowledge and appropriate hard and soft skills from the outset. Someone familiar with Red Hook would be ideal as this is a unique neighborhood and we get lots of requests for things to do from day trippers.
Ad hoc/one off tasks may include:
- preparing paper goods for catering orders and packing up said catering orders
- light inventory of barista and retail items
- serving at events and other catering requests
- create content for social media
- collaborate with ownership on other creative materials such graphics, fonts, holiday ads, tablescaping, visual merchandising - we love creatives and welcome all ideas!
Shifts for now are Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays. We are a very small crew and there are very specific schedules arranged for each member so we ask that respondents can commit to these days for the most part. Shifts are 7:30am-4:30pm. There is a long path of growth with us, we are not looking for ppl who "just need a job".
