Safety Specialist

AECOM is currently pursuing an experienced SafetySpecialist to support various projects located within the New York, NY area. Safety Specialist will support its Construction Management Teams working in the NYC Metropolitan area on public transit and commuter rail systems.Responsible for moderately complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirementsMaintains current knowledge of specific government agency requirementsExhibits knowledge and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of their environmental specialtyIndependently determines and develops approaches to solutionsDevelops, implements and maintains safety and health programs, systems and procedures. Monitors and prevents hazards and diseases in the work areaInvestigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplaceRecommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazardsDevelops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programsProvides regulatory interpretation and technical adviceMay act as a lead role for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel.May administer an ES&H program on a small or medium-sized project
