For current job opportunities visit our careers page.The Team You’ll Work With:The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Strategic Initiatives ensures that City government solves problems through holistic, accountable, and transparent means. With a focus on many of the administration’s top priorities – from creating opportunities for young people to strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure – the office works in partnership with stakeholders inside and outside of city government to develop, scale, coordinate, and deliver policies, plans and operations in an equitable and sustainable way. The Deputy Mayor also oversees the following agencies and offices: the Department of Youth and Community Development, the Office of Food Policy, the Office of Non-Profit Services, the Office of Childcare and Early Childhood Education, the Center for Innovation through Data Intelligence, the Office of Youth Employment, the Children’s Cabinet, and the Commission on Gender Equity.The Problems You’ll Solve: You will help oversee priority initiatives across the Deputy Mayor’s portfolio of agencies and business units, making key recommendations and decisions on several portfolios. You will manage a team of Senior Advisors and work alongside staff, serving as the primary liaison between the Deputy Mayor, agencies, and business units to report on engagement efforts and initiatives of business units, agencies, non-profits organizations and CBO’s. Principal Advisor

Advises the Deputy Mayor of Strategic Initiatives on a wide range of priorities.

Develops long-term planning centered around Mayoral and agency priorities.

Manages a team of senior advisors who assess policy related initiatives on an ongoing basis, such as

Early Childcare & Childhood Education, Equity, Non-Profits, The Mayor’s Fund and City Affiliated

Non-Profits, and other Deputy Mayor and Mayoral priorities.

Makes key decisions and recommendations to the Deputy Mayor and where applicable the Mayor to

expand DMSI initiatives.

Works closely with the Chief of Staff and Chief Strategy Officer to manage communications planning

and coordination with all agencies under the Deputy Mayor’s portfolio and unit leadership. Coordinate

key projects (agency, inter-agency and otherwise) centered on city efficiency, agency, and stakeholder

collaboration.

Lead the charge in ensuring coordination and joint efforts between OCCECE, MONS, MOERJ, Mayor’s

Fund on priority DM & Mayoral initiatives.

Quantitatively and qualitatively assess policy related initiatives on an ongoing basis and make

recommendations and/or presentations, briefings to stakeholders and Mayoral officials, making sure to

appropriately communicate pertinent and sensitive information.

Represent the Deputy Mayor at meetings with stakeholders, staff, and internal and external

committees, etc., to develop and sustain positive relationships and networks, gather information,

opinions, and attitudes, identify stakeholder needs, provide interpretation and clarification, develop

response options, and generate cooperation policy initiatives.

Analyze and make recommendations on projects that raise issues and/or concerns.

Creating alignment between policies, practices, and regulations across agencies.

Establishing clear and consistent communications with internal and external stakeholders,

communicating goals, timelines, and deliverables

Working closely with the Deputy Mayor and advisement team to continue the development and

implementation of the Childcare Blueprint 2.0 – across multiple agency partners.
