Visually Impaired Man seeking help with household tasks such as
-Cooking
-Cleaning
-Shopping
-Reading of printed material
I am in my 50s and do NOT need any assistance with dressing, bathing, grooming or most things typically associated with caring for the elderly.
All of the help I require is related to my limited vision.
Can’t see when meat turns brown when cooking.
Can’t read labels on products in the store.
Can’t read the instructions for the new gadget that arrived from Amazon.
Up to 38 hours per week.
Flexible schedule. But no nights or weekends.
I do have someone now.
But looking for additional person.
Being able to communicate clearly in English is a MUST.
Being tech savvy (able to use apps on computer and phone) is important.
Having a car is not a requirement. But certainly it is a plus.
I appreciate the responses.
But PLEASE take another couple of moments when composing them.
I fully understand that you’d like to know what this position offers for YOU.
But let’s not lose sight of the fact that I still need to know how you can help ME.
That you have a degree, are kind to animals and your mom thinks highly of you are all nice attributes. But please tell me your abilities and experience with the tasks mentioned in the ad.
If you ask things that are clearly covered in the ad (location, compensation (I think those 2 are listed twice) how many hours, etc) it means you are not paying attention to even the simplest, most obvious things. I will not reply.
Also, please keep in mind that many people reply to these ads.
You might think you are a good fit for the position and maybe you are!
But if you send a 1-line message and just ask me to call you or just a resume with nothing at all in the e-mail, there’s no reason to consider you when others are taking the time to tell me about themselves and their qualifications.

Please look at the map, see my location and determine
what your commute would be like.
I get inquiries from Staten Island, The Bronx and even Westchester.
If you don’t have a car and it’s going to take you 2-3 hours
in each direction, this would not be suitable.
I have a cat. So, if you are allergic or uncomfortable with cats,
this would not be a good fit for you.
Regarding Schedule: there is SOME flexibility.
Meaning that if you wanted to do 7 hours on one day
and 10 hours on another, that is possible.
And we could do 8-5, 9-6, etc.
But NO weekends or evenings.
So, if you have a day job and are looking for a 2nd, part time
job that you can do in your off hours, this would not fit that schedule.
