JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Per Diem Child Birth Educator will teach on-site educational classes for expectant parents at The Mount Sinai Hospital to increase awareness and knowledge of the birth and postpartum experience.Requirements:Minimum of one-year commitmentMust teach a minimum of two classes per month to maintain per diem statusAvailable to teach and/or cover weeknights and weekendsRESPONSIBILITIES1.Provides comprehensive childbirth education classes for women andtheir partners.2.Help expectant parents learn valuable prenatal and postnatal skills and strategies.3.Facilitates engaging group instruction and discussion based on updatedtheory and evidence-based research.4.Keeps abreast of changes in Labor and Delivery clinical knowledge, along with process and procedures, in order to keep material current with The Mount Sinai Hospital policies and protocol.5.Effectively represents and communicates the values of The Mount Sinai Hospital throughout all professional interactions.6.Provides feedback to Childbirth Program Manager based on feedback fromclass participants.QUALIFICATIONS

Proficiency teaching private and/or group classes for a minimum of two years

Certification as a Childbirth Educator though a nationally recognized organization

Certification as a Lactation Consultant or International Board Certified

Lactation Consultant if teaching breastfeeding classes

Certification as a Doula and/or hospital experience in Labor and Delivery

Compensation StatementThe Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $50.00 - $50.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need.
