To further this mission, Callen-Lorde promotes health education and wellness, and advocates for LGBTQ+ health issues. About the Role: Our Patient Care Associates play a vital role in ensuring a seamless patient experience. PCAs are the heart of our patient experience. This is a per diem position offering up to 18 hours per week with a set schedule. However, we are seeking someone with flexibility to assist in the event of staff shortages. PCAs manage a high volume of calls, provide accurate information, and assist patients with their healthcare needs. Key Responsibilities: As a PCA, your responsibilities will include:

Answering Phone Calls:Handle incoming calls from patients, providers, and other stakeholders, providing information and assistance as needed.

Scheduling Appointments:Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, ensuring timely and efficient scheduling.

Patient Registration:Register new and returning patients, collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information.

Message Taking:Take accurate messages and route them to appropriate staff members.

Data Entry:Input patient information into the electronic health record (EHR) system.

Problem-Solving:Troubleshoot patient issues and concerns, escalating issues as needed.

Communication:Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and other stakeholders.

Compliance:Adhere to HIPAA regulations and other relevant compliance standards.

Work Schedule:

This is a per diem position offering up to 18 hours per week with a set schedule. However, we are seeking someone with flexibility to assist in the event of staff shortages.

QualificationsEducation, Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience in a medical service environment, specifically with front desk activities preferred

Knowledge of Federal & NY State patient privacy regulations/laws a plus

Desired Characteristics, Skills

Experience working with diverse populations including the LGBT community

Excellent attention to detail

Strong customer service skills

Ability to remain calm, focused, and helpful under stress

Ability to multi-task

Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
