The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development of Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.The Web Engineering team builds and delivers solutions that power Disney's web products. Our Web Player team is responsible for creating, owning, and supporting our various playback libraries. We support Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and all of our entertainment and streaming properties by building inner-source libraries that deliver video playback!Responsibilities

Lead a small development team dedicated to video playback across Disney brands

Design and build functionality at the core of our internal video libraries

Prototype new features and own delivery from development to production

Partner with other engineering teams to craft solutions at scale

Encourage and drive implementation and utilization of architectural standards

Write user documentation, review pull requests, mentor other engineers

Grow an inclusive team culture built around positive intent

Basic Qualifications:

7+ years relevant industry experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

Able to write standards-compliant and accessible HTML/JSX and CSS

Extensive experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and front-end frameworks such as React

Experience consuming data with APIs using REST, GraphQL, or other patterns

Ability to research, learn, understand, and drive adoption of new technologies

Preferred Qualifications:

Video playback experience using modern web technologies and APIs

Expansive industry knowledge with regard to web standards and new technologies

Understanding of open source principles and patterns as they pertain to collaborative development

Our goal is to create an inclusive workplace for all.The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA and Bristol, CT is $149,300 - $200,200 per year, in Seattle and New York is $156,300 - $209,600 per year, and in San Francisco is $163,500 - $219,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
