Our Direct client is seeking a Financial Services Sybase Database Developer (NOT DBA) for a 12 month+ contract possible extensions in their New York City, NY location.
The ideal candidate must have ODBC Programming experience; Sybase CT/BLK Library programming experience and migration of large scale applications from Sybase is required. Please note Financial Services Industry is a must – other industries will not be considered. The client will hire over a couple of Technical Video Assessments and will begin the assignment remotely – once safe (most likely October) the consultant must be able to work onsite 5 days a week in NYC Location. The client is migrating to Postgres so the native Sybase libraries won’t work. They are planning to migrate to ODBC which should work against both Sybase and Postgres during the transition. They have a ton of code that makes database calls. Seeking for someone who can provide a template for CT & BLK Library to ODBC conversion. This person will be the SME in ODBC. Not seeking for a DBA'S but someone some basic DBA experience might help. Skills/Qualifications:- 7+ years of solid C/Sybase/Linux Database Development experience including migration of large-scale application from Sybase to Postgres
- Must be strong Linux developer (not Windows)
- Very strong in Sybase CT / BLK Library programming
- ODBC specific programming experience
- Worked on similar conversion projects will be a must
- Scripting (not critical)
- Self-motivation and an ability to work in a high energy, fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with a non-technical audience.
