Ryan Stradal (The Lager Queen of Minnesota, Kitchens of the Great Midwest, Saturday Night at the Lakeside Supper Club), Bea Setton (Berlin), and Clare Pooley (The Authenticity Project).The Editorial Assistant: Provides strong administrative support to the SVP/Publisher and Senior Editor (manages calendars, routes files, handles mailings, etc.) Does first reads of submitted manuscripts, logs submissions, and writes reader’s reports Learns editorial skills, including line and structural editing, under the guidance of the Publisher Writes and edits catalog, flap, and marketing copy; prepares title information sheets and other marketing materials Attends editorial meetings and all relevant imprint meetings Acts as a liaison between authors, agents, and other in-house departments Coordinates the editorial and production process Manages the imprint’s social media and updates imprint website as needed Creates P&Ls and contract information sheets Collects sales data and provides competitive title research Manages paperback reprints with Associate EditorRequirements: Prior office experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to manage a high-volume email inbox efficiently Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment Exceptional attention to detail and follow-up skills Superb organizational skills Strong reading and analytic ability important, as well as ability to read quickly and accurately Ability to master corporate marketing tools/systems important Ability to take initiative and problem-solve creatively Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Google DriveThis NYC-based role is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities, which include but are not limited to book mailings and in-office meetings.The salary for this position is $48,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.
