Job DescriptionClinical Nurse Apheresis Unit at the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care, NYC We Are Providers:

You Are:

You Will:

Perform photopheresis and therapeutic apheresis procedure to collect stem cells & other blood components.

Review documentation before beginning procedure IE: collection order, documentation of catheter tip placement, physician orders for the procedure, patient consent and medical history form

Assess the physical status of patients pre and post-treatment and identifies patient problems and needs.

Work with Medical Physics Department staff, monitor all Quality Assurance programs daily, prepare all documentation, and presents data for FDA/MQSA/NYCBRH inspections.

Perform all venipunctures and access VADs per nursing policy using accepted principles of infection control

Provides physical care and administers medications according to established nursing policies and procedures

Communicates with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe and effective care.

Provide education to patients and families about the treatment plans and associated procedures.

You Have:

New York State RN license and BSN

1.5 years of related medical/surgical experience required; Previous ED, ICU, or IV Team experience highly preferred.

Strong IV insertion skills

Experience with Apheresis procedures preferred but will provide extensive training to novice Apheresis staff.
