Summary: We are seeking an Associate General Counsel to work on Meta’s Central Security Legal Team, with a global remit to support security, safety, and integrity equities worldwide, with a particular focus on physical security safety of our employees, locations, and assets; executive liability risks; and crisis management. This is a great opportunity to join a team that works on novel issues in a fast-paced and evolving environment. You would bring international criminal justice experience, with a firm grasp of the regulatory landscape in the United States, Europe, and around the world, as it impacts internet service and social media providers. You should also bring experience with criminal investigations (US and international) and management of crisis situations. You should perform effectively both under your own initiative as well as with large multi-stakeholder cross-functional teams. Key qualities include demonstrated legal judgment and executing quickly under tight time constraints, proven experience navigating projects that require an analysis of situations and decision making with ambiguous or complex factors, solid communications skills and being proactive, collaborative, and diligent.Required Skills: Associate General Counsel - Security Legal, Central Responsibilities:

Provide advice and support matters impacting the physical security and safety of Meta and its employees, particularly executive liability and government enforcement actions with criminal risks and maturing a programmatic approach to protecting Meta and its employees.

Provide advice and sound judgment in crises impacting the security of Meta and its employees.

Assess and advise on regulations and regulatory trends related to executive liability, local presence/localization requirements for social intermediaries.

Identify and advise the business and product partners on legal obligations globally relating to executive liability vis a vis platform safety and integrity, including legal requirements related to child safety and other serious crimes.

Manage and provide legal guidance to criminal investigations against Meta.

Work closely and creatively with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Policy, Communications, Engineering, Security, and Business Operations in reviewing and addressing governmental regulations, agency guidelines, policies, including regulations and investigations related to executive liability or physical security risks to Meta and its employees.

Manage effective relationships with key government agencies, regulators, and law enforcement agencies, in close collaboration with internal cross-functional teams.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:

J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)

Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)

10+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience

Demonstrated business judgment and client counseling skills

Demonstrated experience in listening to and communicating with partners in order to drive positive impact and experience working with cross functional teams

Substantial experience with U.S. law, including criminal laws, the Stored Communications Act, Wiretap Act, Pen Register/Trap and Trace Statute, and international treaties such as MLATs and mutual assistance treaties

Experience working with U.S. or international law enforcement authorities

Experience as in-house or government counsel providing guidance related to law enforcement engagement and criminal matters.

Prior industry experience or advising private companies on law enforcement and criminal matters.

Experience managing and leading cross-functional efforts, and prioritizing competing project timelines.

Experience analyzing and reviewing emerging regulations relating to technology companies, including content moderation and safety and executive liability.

Experience managing criminal investigations or enforcement matters.

Experience drafting legislation and/or legal policies for large or complex organizations.

Experience in criminal justice, with a firm grasp of the regulatory landscape in the United States, and awareness of global trends impacting tech companies.

Experience working effectively with large multi-stakeholder cross-functional teams across time zones.

Experience in legal judgment and executing quickly and under tight time constraints, solid communications skills and being proactive, collaborative, and diligent.
