We are looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team and possibly promoted to Accounting Manager.
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will manage and maintain the company’s accounts payable functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, Job Cost and records. This role will work closely with project managers, vendors, and other team members to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and review invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and contractual terms.
Verify the accuracy of amounts, payment terms, and Job coding for expenses.
Prepare and process weekly/monthly payments to vendors and suppliers.
Maintain vendor records and resolve discrepancies in accounts, liaising with vendors to ensure accurate billing and payment.
Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure that invoices align with project budgets and timelines.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary reports and reconciling Vendor/ Subcontractor.
Respond to internal and external inquiries regarding payment status and invoice issues.
Maintain and update financial records, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded in QuickBooks.
Prepare and maintain various accounts payable reports as required.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred).
2+ years of experience in accounts payable, preferably in the construction or related industry.
Knowledge of construction industry payment processes and contract terms (subcontracts, change orders, etc.).
Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with construction terminology and project billing is a plus.
