Media Svcs.Budget Title: Assistant for Instructional ResourcesLocal Title: Audio Visual TechnicianPosting Date: March 17, 2025Classification: SL-3Duties: The Department of Instructional Media Services (IMS) at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz invites applications for the position of Audio-Visual Technician.This is a full-time, 12-month, on-site position as a member of Instructional Media Services that supports campus classrooms and conference spaces. This person is responsible for performing audio-visual equipment installations, maintenance, responding to trouble calls and diagnosing issues. Additionally, this position serves as backup support for departmental activities. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a learning mindset to work in a team-oriented environment. We are dedicated to supporting learning opportunities to enhance initiatives related to classroom technologies.Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Performs audio visual system installations, including devices, mounts, cables, conduit, raceway, and pathways. Performs the configuring and commissioning audio visual devices. Receive and respond to incoming end user trouble calls via service desk tickets, email, phone, or chat. Performs preventative maintenance and device software updates. Perform audio visual system diagnostics, troubleshooting and repair. Assists with asset management and documentation. Assists with vendor oversight. Assists with purchasing and maintaining consumable stock inventory Document progress and tasks in ticket tracking software.Qualifications: Required: Associate degree or 2 years full-time work experience providing hardware installation or support. Proficient in the use of Microsoft products. (Teams, Outlook, SharePoint) Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail Strong written communication and customer service skills Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Flexible and adaptable regarding learning and understanding modern technologies Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch and lift boxes up to 50 lbs Ability to work on ladders Ability to use hand and power tools Valid driver’s licensePreferred: Experience providing technical support for higher education or business Degree in audio visual technology, educational technology, networking, or related field of study In-depth and broad knowledge of computing technologies, networking, audio-visual equipment, presentation, and control systems Familiarity with using asset and ticket tracking software Experience working with Crestron AV systems Certifications in the audio-visual field Experience working with and serving diverse populations Experience using various hand and power tools (impact drivers, drills, saws, grinders)Contact Information: Electronic submissions required.
