Description Robert Half is looking to hire an Accounting Clerk for a well respected organization in the non-profit industry. In this position, you will be responsible for assisting in the process of Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R), general data entry, and matching invoices to purchase orders and/or vouchers. This is a long-term contract / temporary employment opportunity based in the Melville, New York area.Key responsibilities
Compose statements and reports that require utilization of a wide collection of sources
Work with Accounts Payable: A/P invoice matching & filing, vendor invoices and disbursement filing
Arrange documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of expenditure codes and accounting codes
Broadcast financial information to journals and ledgers
Assist Accounts Receivable: process daily invoices/credit, apply cash receipt, and help with collection of past due balance
Patch up discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required
Standard accounting: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects Requirements - AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred
Knowledge of Financial Edge
Non-profit fund accounting experience
Strong familiarity with Accounting Functions
Ability to multitask effectively
Prior experience in Spreadsheet and ERP system
Data entry, document management, file creation and previous records experience required
