Req Number 116367Role DescriptionThis is a full-time on-site role located in Manhasset, NY at the Lab for Behavioral and Molecular Neuroimaging-MicroPET. The research assistant will work under the direction of Dr. Joseph Carrión and/or senior vivarium staff to support ongoing radiotracer imaging research projects. Depending on the number of projects, day-to-day activities may be divided between lab work and data analysis. Lab duties include handling of animals, preparation of syringes/cannulas, checking anesthesia, and workflow monitoring during image acquisition. Non-lab duties involve image processing/statistical analysis on both Windows and Mac operating systems, conducting literature searches, data collection, organization, and analysis, and assisting with manuscript preparation. Core hours required during imaging days.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (will consider in-progress student) in neuroscience, biology, anatomy, image processing, or a related field
Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills
Experience conducting pre-clinical research in a laboratory setting not necessary but desirable
Experience with scientific methodology, data collection, organization, and analysis
Experience with statistical software is a plus: Matlab, SPM, PMOD, Prism Graphpad, SPSS, etc.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Experience with MRI or PET imaging is a plus
Dedication to a research career/interest in pursuing a graduate degree in neuroscience
