Job Title: Experienced Marine & Outboard Technician

Position Overview:
RipTide Marine Services is seeking an Experienced Marine & Outboard Technician to join our growing team. This hands-on role involves diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and rigging outboard engines, as well as installing and servicing boat systems, including 12-volt electrical, plumbing, electronics, winterizing, and shrink wrapping. The ideal candidate has at least 5 years of experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Outboard Engine Diagnostics & Repair: Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs on four-stroke outboard engines from major manufacturers (Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda, etc.).
Engine Rigging & Installations: Install and rig new and repowered outboards, ensuring proper alignment, secure connections, and optimal performance.
Boat Systems Maintenance: Diagnose and repair 12-volt electrical systems, batteries, charging systems, plumbing systems, and marine electronics.
Electronics & Controls: Install and configure GPS, radar, depth finders, digital controls, and integrated electronic systems.
Winterization & Shrink Wrapping: Prepare boats for winter storage, including engine winterizing, system flushing, and shrink-wrapping vessels to protect them from the elements.
Fuel & Cooling Systems: Service and troubleshoot fuel delivery systems, cooling systems, and exhaust systems.
Boat Hauling & Launching: Assist with the safe hauling, launching, and transport of boats using travel lifts, forklifts, and trailers.
Customer Interaction: Communicate professionally with customers to provide service updates, recommendations, and repair estimates.
Safety & Compliance: Follow industry safety protocols, ensuring a secure and compliant work environment.
Workshop & Tool Maintenance: Keep tools, diagnostic equipment, and the workspace clean, organized, and well-maintained.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience working on outboard engines and marine systems.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in outboard engine diagnostics, rigging, 12-volt electrical, plumbing, marine electronics, and general boat systems.
Manufacturer Certifications: Certifications from Yamaha, Mercury, Suzuki, Honda, or Evinrude are highly preferred.
Shrink Wrapping & Winterization: Experience with boat shrink wrapping, engine winterizing, and system flushing.
Equipment Handling: Experience operating travel lifts, forklifts, and other boat-moving equipment.
Licenses: A clean, valid driver’s license is required. Additional boating certifications are a plus.
Attention to Detail: Ability to perform precision work and maintain high-quality standards.
Communication Skills: Ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
Self-Motivated: Works independently while maintaining productivity and efficiency.
Team Player: Collaborates effectively within a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills:
Strong knowledge of four-stroke outboard systems, including diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Experience with engine installations and rigging for various outboard models.
Proficiency in 12-volt electrical systems and marine wiring.
Experience with boat plumbing systems, including freshwater and bilge systems.
Basic understanding of marine electronics and their integration with boat systems.
Ability to operate boats for sea trials and deliveries is a plus.
