MME Company is looking for an experienced Carpenter to work at one if our warehouses in Farmingdale, NY. Candidate must have a good work ethic, positive attitude, and a proven track record of quality craftsmanship!
The job will entail working in diverse settings to produce steady and functional infrastructure and products. The ideal candidate will have good knowledge of wood properties and other carpentry materials while working with little supervision and following all essential health and safety standards. The Carpenter will contribute to the construction and maintenance of strong and long-lasting buildings and products.
Full time lead carpenter/general handyman needed for trade show and scenic theater production company. Must be able to perform various manual and skilled labor tasks as well as experience in all phases of handyman and carpentry duties. Must have own basic tools.
Responsibilities
Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements.
Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items.
Lay out floorings, roofings or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible.
Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated.
Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance.
Build scaffolding and other construction structures.
Requirements
Proven experience as carpenter
Hands-on experience in working with carpentry materials.
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
Theatrical Carpentry Experience
Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
A willingness to always follow safety guidelines.
Good knowledge of English
Good understanding of basic math
Good physical condition and endurance
High school diploma: Successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program is required
Must be able drive Non-CDL box truck.
Able to work weekends when needed.
Job Qualifications:
4-5 years of hands-on carpentry experience
Great hand dexterity and an eye for detail
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers, etc.)
Ability to read and understand technical documents and drawings.
Must always follow safety guidelines.
Good knowledge of English
Good understanding of basic math
Good physical condition and endurance
Successfully pass a drug test and background screening
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if needed.
Ability to commute to work daily.
Driver’s License Required.
