Bluebird Kitchen seeks Sous Chef

First and foremost we are hiring a person that wants to do amazing things and be part of a team that wants the same.

We are a seasonal American restaurant in Bellmore/Merrick. Our seasonal menus adapt traditional and modern cooking techniques to modern tastes. Bluebird Kitchen is a company that is very passionate about well-executed and balanced food, raw and natural wines, craft cocktails, spirits, and beers.

We are currently looking for dedicated and driven Sous Chef to join our team. Sous Chefs are encouraged to share their thoughts and ideas to help build our seasonal menus. You will be trained on all stations, and will run a station on a daily schedule as well as have supervisor roles.

You will be responsible for daily ordering, organizing, maintaining standards, and day to day execution of the business.

Ideas Candidates:

Genuinely love to cook

Able to take direction

Have a high level of organization skills

Are professional, articulate, friendly and punctual

Possess a knowledge of fine dining

At least 2 year experience working in a fast-paced, high volume kitchen

Able to follow and scale recipes

Maintain health department standards

Have Nassau County Health department permit if you don't have you will be required to get on that we will pay for.

Maintain food quality and restaurant standards

Ability to demonstrate great teamwork in a hospitality driven environment

REQUIREMENTS:

- Experience working in a professional kitchen in NYC

- Knife skills and general knowledge of cooking techniques

- Friendly, outgoing, energetic team player with a positive attitude

- Ability to think quickly and multi-task in a fast paced environment

- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written

- Ability to take direction and execute

- Flexible availability including nights and weekends and holidays

- Culinary certificate or degree a plus.

- Must be able to stand for up to 8-10 hours and lift up to 40 pounds

- Must be able to arrive on time and work a full shift, including station breakdown
