Purchasing Agent / Inventory Control

We are a food manufacturer and distributor with local roots right here on Long Island. We are a growing, agile, and innovative company that is looking to add the right team member to our office staff.

The Purchasing Agent will play a pivotal role in our supply chain management by overseeing the procurement of raw materials, packaging, and other goods necessary for the production and distribution of our food products. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of supply chain dynamics, negotiation skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

Qualifications:

-Preferred but not required Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

-Proven experience in a purchasing role in the food manufacturing or distribution industry.

-Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

-In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles.

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-Proficiency in using ERP software and Google or Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities:

-Maintain inventory for the plant of both raw materials and finished goods using ERP software for guidance.

-Price and requisition of products through vendor relations.

-Connect with vendors via phone, email, whatsapp (overseas).

-Maintain records of all purchases: from PO’s to invoicing/receiving

-Ensure accurate product pricing including deductions

-Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials,

packaging, and other goods.

-Inventory Control: Work closely with the production and warehouse teams to optimize inventory levels, minimizing

excess and obsolete inventory.

-Implement inventory control measures to ensure efficient stock levels.

-Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality control, and logistics, to ensure seamless

coordination and communication.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $65,000.00 per year
