The Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County Prevention Program Educator for its NYS OASAS funded Community Prevention and Intervention Project (CPIP), a four (4) year grant funded position, delivers evidence-based prevention programs to the Roscoe, Eldred, Livingston Manor, and Tri-Valley School Districts of Sullivan County. The evidence-based programs include Strengthening Families, Preventure, and Teen Intervene, as well as environmental change strategies like policy change and media outreach to reduce substance use among youth. The Prevention Program Educator will work under the general supervision of the Prevention Programs Issue Leader and be responsible for the delivery of these programs. This position will assist with marketing and communication initiatives in support of the program, outreach and support to law enforcement on prevention strategies, and will provide support for evaluation and documentation of prevention and community development strategies.Required Qualifications:
Associate degree or equivalent education. GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable/program experience is acceptable.
1-2 years volunteer or work-related experience.
Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
Ability to read and write in English.
Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons to target audiences and work with diverse audiences of all ages.
Basic computer and word processing skills.
Ability to transport/move supplies and equipment and climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.
Must be comfortable purchasing and preparing foods and reviewing and following recipes.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally or in writing.
Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and a collaborative workstyle.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in adult and youth education or other relevant work experience.
Experience working with the target audience (limited resource).
Ability to plan and organize personal work responsibilities according to priorities developed with immediate supervisor.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Program Responsibilities:Program Delivery - 80%
Implement educational activities to meet the goals of the program.
Implement established program schedule.
Utilize mass media efforts related to program implementation and communication strategies.
Implement, execute, and maintain communication with constituents and the community through a variety of methods such as newsletters, emails, electronic technology, internet, social media, website postings and content.
As part of program delivery, provide routine responses to inquiries from prospective volunteers, participants, partners, and donors.
Provide program referrals and ongoing outreach efforts in accordance with established Plan of Work.
Administrative Responsibilities:Coordination/Operation - 15%
Recruit and enroll program participants and document participation as required by program models.
Collect program data and maintain accurate records of program participants.
Complete necessary written documentation for program evaluation as required by program and funders.
Assist in preparing reports demonstrating program progress, accomplishments, and the impact on the community.
Compile and prepare teaching materials necessary for programs.
Maintain confidentiality of information and data collected.
Organize and coordinate CPIP program activities to support the delivery of established program goals.
Distribute program materials to inform communities of programs.
Submit accurate program-related expense receipts and mileage reports promptly.
Assist in allocating budget amounts.
Accurately collect and prepare paperwork as required for the program evaluation process.
Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%
In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.
Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Extension programs and other duties as assigned.

Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.
Be familiar and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
