Special Education Teacher (Integrated UPK) Larchmont, NY (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=1100+Palmer+Ave+Larchmont+NY+10538-3335) Job TypeFull-timeDescriptionHealthy Kids Programs is seeking fully certified teacher (Students with Disabilities, Birth -2nd grade) for Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS) for our Larchmont, NY location. The students have moderate disabilities such as speech and motor delays, some behavioral issues and possible ASD. Candidate should have experience working with this population in an interdisciplinary setting with related service staff. Supervision/mentoring provided.Essential Functions:1) Planning and executing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for early childhood education, including detailed lesson plans2) Develop and implement an appropriate IEPs for all special needs children in the class.3) Knowledge of current State and Federal curriculum, standards and ability to integrate into lesson plans, including math and science-based activities.4) Create a child-centered classroom with centers clearly identified and properly labeled and supports choice-based activities.5) Classroom displays are child centered and feature the work of the children.6) Supervision of Teacher Assistants during instructional time.7) Ongoing assessment of children's performance and remediation needs.8) Participating in team meetings, staff meetings and individual discipline meetings.9) Maintain accurate attendance records for all children in class.10) Complete all educational reports and goals in a timely manner.11) Document via the Daily Goal Sheets the progress of all children.12) Actively engage in the individual and group supervision process.13) Develop a schedule and environment that is reflective of the needs of the children in theclass and supports best practice in early childhood education.14) Participation in all CPSE and CSE meetings as required by program needs.15) Attend annual Open House and other mandatory events as necessary.16) Maintain regular contact with families via notebooks and/or phone calls.17) Plan appropriate educational trips.18) Maintain class inventory and supplies.19) Responsible in assisting in the implementation of the student's IEPsAdditional DutiesAny and all other such duties as may be deemed necessary for the safe, efficient and effective operation of the agency.Working Conditions; (Physical)Escort and carry children as needed.Toileting and diapering of children as needed.RequirementsSpecial Education Teacher QualificationsWe require:

NYS Teacher Certification in Special Education, Students with Disabilities (Birth-Grade 2)

Experience working with preschool-aged children with special needs preferred.

Must be physically able to handle all aspects of the supervision of the day-to-day activities of preschoolers which may include, but not limited to, running, bending lifting children

Ability to objectively facilitate discussion, planning, and provide conflict resolution within the professional team.

Ability to organize and manage professional team responsibilities.

Strong interpersonal skills and be an effective communicator and motivator.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus!
