Req Number 127519Job DescriptionDesigns radiotherapy treatment plans with optimum arrangement of radiation fields and exposures, and conveys details to Therapists in order to treat patients according to Physician prescriptions.Job Responsibility

Designs treatment plans and field placement techniques, by means of computer and/or manual computation, considering dose-limiting structures, to deliver radiation doses to a defined tumor volume in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's prescription.

Prepares all the necessary documents, dose calculations and instructions, germane to such treatment plans as well as participates in coordination of treatment simulations and tumor localization on dedicated devices, including CT, MRI, and PET when indicated, for radiation oncology treatment planning.

Coordinates treatment plan implementation including the correct use of immobilization devices, compensators, wedges, field arrangement, and other treatment variables.

Calculates for the accurate delivery of the Radiation Oncologist's prescribed dose, documents all pertinent information in the patient record, and verifies the mathematical accuracy of all calculations using a system established by the Medical Physicist.

Assists with, but not limited to providing physics and technical support to the Medical Physicist, in radiation protection, qualitative machine calibrations, and quality assurance of the radiation oncology equipment.

Coordinating and/or performing the application of specific methods of dosimetry including ion chamber, TLD, or film measurement as directed by the Medical Physicist.

Use of imaging procedures as they pertain to the simulation, and treatment planning/delivery in therapeutic radiologic procedures.

Intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures and in the subsequent manual and/or computer calculation of the dose distributions of these treatments.

Clinical research for development and implementation of new techniques.

Job Qualification

Bachelor's Degree, required.

Current Medical Dosimetrist Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

1-3 years of relevant experience, required.
