Open Doors English Long-Term Substitute Educator Job Announcement

Open Doors English seeks temporary part time English as a Second Language instructor for advanced ESL class, April 15-June 7, 2024. One in-person, morning position available, Monday-Thursday, 9:30-11:30AM. Position includes 8 hours of instruction and 4 hours of paid preparation time per week.

ODE is an English language school for adults, serving immigrants, refugees, temporary residents, and other English language learners.

Duties and Responsibilities:

prepare for and provide ESL instruction that is appropriate and accessible for students across communicative modalities (reading, writing, listening, & speaking)

monitor students’ progress and modify instruction accordingly

provide a positive, supportive learning environment with high expectations for students

maintain class records (attendance)

attend staff meetings as requested

maintain open and clear communication with ODE co-directors and colleagues

Skills and Qualifications: (preferred but not required)

Experience teaching adults in a classroom setting

Experience teaching ESL

Experience learning another language and/or living in another culture

Certification in TESOL, Master’s in TESOL or currently in a Master’s program

Wage: $17 per hour
