Holistic (Osteopathy) Healthcare Office person Wanted / Part-time

New York, Ithaca, 14850 Ithaca USA

We are:

A small medical practice offering hands-on osteopathic medicine to our patient base. Located in the same area as Deep Dive with views of the inlet from our treatment rooms and studio space. Dr. Teves (Anjani) is an osteopathic physician, Tara manages the practice, and we have an add’l office person who works one/day/week. We are looking for someone to work Thursdays as needed, and to start Thursday, March 27, from 8:30am to 5pm with half hour lunch. Initially you will work for 6 weeks filling in for Tara, and then after that as needed. That said, there is room for growth within our practice, and the possibility of two days/week, also possibility if you are willing to commute, to help out Monday afternoons at our office in Vestal (at Wellness Centered). Plus we are hoping to open a health spa in the near future (we have a photobiomodulation light bed, cold plunge, and 6-person sauna. We also have other renters who use our space so there is a variety of usage in our building. The whole side of the building at 407 Taughannock Blvd., is our practice so we have a private vibe to our business. We work Wednesdays and Thursdays in Ithaca, 8:30am - 5pm, and Mondays in Vestal. We see 25 patients per work week but days are full and we work intimately together. Being in the healthcare field, and offering alternative ways to help our patients feel better or avoid surgery, or find alternatives other than pharmaceuticals, our practice is highly relationship based and patients look to Dr. Teves for much of what they’d normally see their PCP for.

The office person does everything except treat patients, i.e.: Greet and room patients in our 2 treatment rooms, scribe for doctor (easy online forms - clicking buttons) during patient examinations, schedule patient appointments, answer and make phone calls/texts, answer the occasional email, keep the doctor on time for each patient, clean treatment tables and put fresh sheets on them between patients, chat with patients, make sure the bathroom's in order, check garbage, fill our water pitcher, and be available to help our office run smoothly. It’s an important role filled with many details so that the work day flow is a success.

You are:

Competent, happy, conscientious, detail- and time-oriented person who is familiar with the flow of a medical practice, or very interested in learning to be. You must love challenges such as keeping the office running on time, keeping things organized and in order, with great attention to detail, and discretion is most important for our busy medical schedule. You will scribe for the doctor so we will teach you basic medical terms and how to fill out our medical patient (SOAP) forms so that if insurance requests them they're in order. This is a great way to gain experience in the medical field. There's some occasional insurance work (faxing some records), but in general we take payment upfront as we are a “non-participating out of network provider,” so we do not file insurance claims for patients (except Medicare Supplemental patients).

Ideally we would like someone who is relaxed yet organized, personable and kind to our patients, punctual, thinks ahead of what's actually going on in the moment, with lots of customer service experience, problem-solving on the fly is a good skill for our office. There will be a short training period and you can always text/ask for help. We like to run a stress-free environment and we promise to treat you really well!

We are paying $18.50 an hour for the first two weeks just to make sure things are working out and after that it would be $20/hour. We can put you on our payroll or you can be a contractor with a 1099. The six weeks is the main focus but it is also really helpful for us to have somebody to be able to fill in as needed and it could be that you and the practice are such a good match that we’d hire you for two days/week. This is perfect for someone who perhaps is studying medicine or a related field, who would like to gain experience in this type of field. Maybe you have another full-time job in holistic health/healing/yoga and sometimes you'd like to pick up a little extra income.

In addition to those weeks, we'd like to find someone to fill in in future as well, as our practice grows and we have more business days, if someone is on vacation or sick, and there could be some other opportunities as well. We have a commercial space that we'd like to find more renters for, we're looking for an animation specialist to put some of the doctor's breathing classes into short film clips.but let's start with finding the right person!

If this piques your interest and think this might be a good match for you, please send us a cover letter telling us why you think this job would be great for you, and how you would be a good match. Please attach a résumé. If you have any questions, feel free to reply as well. Thank you so much, Dr. Anjani Teves and the Nine Rivers Osteopathy team.
