The relevance and impact of ILR education has never been greater.The Alumni Affairs and Development (AAD) unit is a collaborative team of individuals who engage alumni, parents, and friends of the ILR School to build connections with the school and university as well as increase funding for school priorities. Our major gifts team plays a critical role in Cornell's $5 billion campaign to do the greatest good.SUMMARY The Major Gift Officer will focus on identifying prospective donors, initiating personal contact, and creating opportunities for engagement to raise money for the ILR School and Cornell University. By building strong, long-term relationships between alumni, parents, and friends of Cornell, this position will focus on creating and implementing fundraising strategies for linking potential donors to School priorities and priorities associated with other programs and institutes at the ILR School.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination, in development, alumni affairs, public affairs, marketing, and/or business development.Experience working with volunteers; the ability to manage complex relationships, a proven collaborator with teamwork skills.Excellent communication skills; the ability to speak credibly about higher education and the aspirations of Cornell; clarity, crispness, and effectiveness in written and oral presentations.Willingness to travel extensively, up to 40% of staff time, and to work nights and weekends as needed.Must be able to work in a team-based environment and can direct and motivate staff and volunteers.Passionate about working in an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, anti-racism, and wellbeing.Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.Must have a valid driver's license.Rewards and BenefitsCornell receives national recognition, as an award-winning workplace for our health, wellbeing, sustainability, and diversity initiatives.
