Graduate Field & Event CoordinatorAPPLY About Africana Studies & Research CenterThe Africana Studies & Research Center (ASRC) is part of the College of Arts & Sciences. ASRC has an undergraduate major and minor and a Ph.D. graduate program. We organize and host events that include lectures, conferences, and retreats. The department is on North Campus on Triphammer Road. The building has four classrooms, a 100-person multiuse space, faculty offices, and the Africana Library. The ASRC also has the Institute for Comparative Modernities (ICM) and the NKA Journal of Contemporary African Art under its umbrella. There are 5 administrative positions within ASRC.Learn more about Africana Studies & Research Center here: The OpportunityAs the Graduate Field & Event Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our graduate programs and organizing various events to promote the activities of the Africana Studies & Research Center. Working under the general direction of the Administrative Manager and alongside other department stakeholders, your role will encompass administrative support, event coordination, marketing, and communications responsibilities.Key Responsibilities:1. Administrative Support:Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Graduate Studies, Graduate Field of Africana Studies, and the Administrative Manager.Assist with the graduate admissions and placement processes.Work closely with graduate students to ensure their academic progress.2. Event Coordination:Act as the department's Events Coordinator, overseeing all aspects of event planning.Coordinate and oversee event logistics, including scheduling, venue reservations, catering arrangements, travel coordination for guests/speakers, and on-site management.Ensure the successful implementation of departmental events, workshops, and conferences.3. Marketing and Communications:Develop and implement creative marketing strategies to promote the department's activities and initiatives, including events.Maintain the department's communication plan, including the department's webpage, social media, and publications.Ensure a consistent and compelling message about the department and its field.4. Database and Material Management:Create and maintain databases related to admissions, graduate programs, and events.Develop and update promotional materials as needed to support departmental activities.Join our team and contribute to the growth and success of the Africana Studies & Research Center!
